Women's Ministries Report
After stepping into the Northeastern Conference Women’s Ministries director role in 2021, my team and I committed to creating a vibrant and inclusive ministry that holistically supports women and girls in their faith journey. Understanding the unique challenges women face in their personal, family, and professional lives, we worked to build a ministry that was not only spiritually uplifting but practically transformative. Our goal was to help women thrive, not just survive, as we addressed their spiritual, emotional, physical, and social needs within the conference and beyond.
The Women’s Ministries department is dedicated to empowering women by encouraging them to embrace their God-given potential, cultivate their spiritual gifts, and actively engage in the church’s mission. We established a compassionate support system for women facing difficulties, offering them a safe space to find healing, share their stories, and seek guidance. Through this, we created an open forum where women could openly discuss real-life issues, such as family dynamics, mental health, career challenges, and social justice, and receive biblically sound counsel.
Women’s Ministries is intentionally structured into three dynamic segments to effectively serve women at every stage of life, from adolescence to mature adulthood. G.E.M.S. (Girls Emerging into Mature Sisters) is an exciting and Christ-centered ministry for girls ages 10–20, guiding them through the transitions from girlhood to womanhood to sisterhood. PowHerr serves young adult women ages 21–40 and exists to embrace, empower, and engage women through intentional events and experiences that create space for growth and connection. W.O.R.D. (Women of Rare Distinction) is designed for women ages 40 and above who are seeking a strong, supportive community on their spiritual journey. Each of these segments is uniquely designed to address its age group’s spiritual, emotional, and social needs while fostering community and growth.
In addition, we prioritized mentorship and academic advancement for young women, recognizing the importance of preparing the next generation of leaders. Our programs, including the NAD Women’s Ministries Scholarship, aimed to support young women’s academic and professional growth, empowering them to succeed in their careers and ministries.
Throughout this period, the department organized and facilitated programs that equipped women to step into leadership, build meaningful relationships, and face life’s challenges confidently and gracefully. We hosted such practical events as the enditnow awareness campaign to educate on abuse prevention, provided hands-on training in areas such as church safety, and engaged in service projects that directly impacted the local community. Our spiritual gatherings, which included retreats and conventions, focused on deepening women’s faith and equipping them to serve their families, churches, and communities with purpose.
Evangelism is at the heart of the women’s ministries’ mission, and in April 2024, history was made with the first women-led evangelistic series held at Mamre church. This powerful initiative resulted in five precious souls giving their lives to Christ through baptism. Through preaching, teaching, and personal witness, women are actively expanding God’s kingdom and transforming lives for eternity. As a direct result of the overall effort of this ministry, several individuals have been baptized, evidence of God’s hand at work through dedicated women committed to sharing the gospel.
Our mission was clear, in everything we did: to help women discover their worth in Christ, empower them with tools to thrive in all areas of life, and inspire them to be bold agents of change in their homes, workplaces, and churches. Through our outreach efforts and internal ministry programs, we strived to make each woman’s spiritual journey more practical, relevant, and fulfilling.
